computer gremlin

Ever wonder why your computer sometimes does funny things in the morning? It might be the fault of this gremlin. You are warned: It is scary for a computer-owner to watch.

The Galeries Lafayette in Paris gets all dolled up for Christmas--to the seasonal sounds of Elvis (but you won't be able to hear them, probably because of rights claims).

This sweet mini movie was made at the Florida Institute of Oceanography's Keys Marine Laboratory in the Florida Keys. The captioned language is Croatian.  Warning:  it runs a litttle long--11 minutes.

check out the ghost in this commercial

This is a car commercial from Great Britain.  When they finished filming, the editor noticed something moving along the side of the car.  It looked like a ghostly white mist.  Later, they found out that someone was killed a year earlier in that exact same spot.  The commercial never ran on TV.  To see the apparition, watch the front end of the car as it clears the trees.  Be sure to put your face close to the screen and watch intently.

evacuation of Manhattan by boat on 9/11

This video narrated by Tom Hanks tells the relatively unknown story of the evacuation of many desperate people--did he say 900,000?--on 9/11.

This wrasse fish demonstrates that it can use a tool effectively to open a clam. The video was taken near the Pacific island of Palau.

the cat came back

It is amazing how many stories are out there about cats who are lost and then return home a long time later. Here's a story about a cat who was gone for FIVE YEARS! and then came back.   (There is a video at the bottom of the story.)

I saw a bodega cat a few month's ago in NYC's Chinatown. He was quite busy prowling the aisles and running up and down the conveyor belt to the basement.

ARMY
Over hill, over dale
As we hit the dusty trail,
And the Caissons go rolling along.
In and out, hear them shout,
Counter march and right about,
And those Caissons go rolling along.

Refrain:

Then it's hi! hi! hee!
In the field artillery,
Count out your numbers loud and strong, (2, 3, 4)
For where ever you go,
You will always know
That the Army goes rolling along.

NAVY
Anchors aweigh, my boys,
Anchors aweigh,
Farewell to college joys
We sail at break of day, 'ay 'ay 'ay.
Through our last night ashore
Drink to the foam.
Around the world it’s U. S. Navy
Forever and strong!

AIR FORCE
Off we go into the wild blue yonder,
Climbing high into the sky;
Here they come zooming to meet our thunder,
At 'em boys, Give 'er the gun!
Down we dive, spouting our flame from under,
Off with one heck of a roar!
We live in fame or go down in flame. Hey!
Nothing'll stop the U.S. Air Force!

MARINES
From the Halls of Montezuma,
To the shores of Tripoli;
We will fight our country's battles
In the air, on land, and sea;
First to fight for right and freedom
And to keep our honor clean;
We are proud to claim the title
Of United States Marine.
