carousels around the world photo gallery

I have a fondness for merry-go-rounds.  As I have traveled the world, I have seen and photographed many different styles.  I asked my fellow travel writers, photographers, and bloggers to share here a favorite picture they have snapped of a carousel.  More . . .

The carousel depicted here is the Wonder-Go Round at Children’s Fairyland in Oakland, California.  The fanciful mounts are characters from “Alice in Wonderland.”

take a peaceful swim with a turtle

Swim along with this turtle through the Great Barrier Reef off the coast of Australia.  The turtle's-eye-view lasts until he whacks the camera off his back and sails away alone.

world's oldest living cat

Corduroy, who lives in Sisters, Oregon, is 26 years old and the official Guinness World Records oldest living cat.  He reminds me of my sweet Polly, a Maine Coon, who passed a few years ago.  This clip also introduces some other record-holding kitties.

the cat ate it

Here are some kitties that love to help with homework.  My kitty helped us with our IRS forms by shredding them--they were the new ones we needed to send in.  He also helped me with my blogging by jumping on my lap, missing, and instead bringing down the computer!

More cats.

cats around the world photo gallery

Tomorrow is International Cat Day.  In its honor I am posting notice of this photo gallery of images taken of cats being cats all around the world.

This kitty named Popsicle was hanging out in a kava bowl at the Coconut Grove resort on Taveuni Island in Fiji.  He looks like he might have finished off the dregs.

More cats.

loos with a view photo gallery

Can you recall a restroom that had a view?  When I challenged myself with that question I came up blank except for a few memorable restrooms where the view was a scary hole in the ground and one that was in a clear plastic box of a room at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art--a Yoko Ono installation.  Interestingly, since my awareness was raised, just in the last few months I’ve come across three with a view.  I’ve also asked my fellow travel writers, photographers, and bloggers to share here  a favorite picture they have snapped of a loo with a view.  Several of them have come up with Views of a Loo with a View.  Here you go . . .
