a skewed view of survival

a skewed view of survival

Comment from contributor of this item, Linda Randolph:

"I think this photo is deceptive. There's probably a flotation slide at the rear of the plane too, but the coach folks are standing on the wing where there isn't one....... Anyway when a plane crashes there is a better chance of survival in the cheap seat tail section. :-)) I'd be satisfied with the wing!"

More airplanes.

  1. Partly because the plane was not fully prepared for ditching (not all external inlets were closed, and yes that can be done) and some damage on touchdown, the tail sank sufficiently low in the water that the rear exits could not be opened so the slides/raft could not be deployed. So if you are flying over water, First Class is the only way to go.
