crochet a fat cat bean bag

crochet a fat cat bean bag

To make this sweet kitty bean bag, begin crocheting at the bottom and work your way up to form a little basket that narrows into a kitty cat.  I made this for my delighted 9-year-old granddaughter.  She checked in with me regularly to see how her kitty was coming along.  I asked her to help me fill the kitty’s tummy with beans (we used black-eyed peas), and let her select from my scraps the color that she wanted to use for the whiskers.  When it was finished, she especially enjoyed squeezing it and so far I haven’t seen her throw it.
Pattern here.

fly through the sky with the birds

fly through the sky with the birds

We can't fly like a bird, but we can fly with the birds!

A fan of this man says, "For those of you concerned about the birds...Christian Moullec, from France, rescues and hand raises orphan birds. He then teaches them to follow his micro-light so they can learn safe migratory routes and go back to nature. His is foremost a conservationist and taking some tourists onboard would help finance his efforts I imagine. No abuse there, just knowledge and dedication. The canadian Bill Lishman pioneered flying with birds in this manner and the film “Fly Away Home” was inspired by his work."

Rolling Thunder motorcycle parade in Washington D.C.

Rolling Thunder motorcycle parade in Washington D.C.

More than a million veterans ride their motorcycles to Washington D.C. during the week before Memorial Day.  When they arrive, they ride down Constitution Avenue, where a lone Marine salutes them.  Sgt. Chambers has done this for many years, and might be doing it again this year.  I was once in D.C. on Memorial Day weekend and could hear the motorcycles from a distance.  I asked what the sound was, and it was explained to me.  It did sound a lot like rolling thunder.
